Job Description The Graphic Designer plays a key role in bringing the Mellow Mushroom brand to life across multiple channels. This position is responsible for creating engaging, on-brand designs for both internal and external initiatives, including system-wide and test-cell advertising campaigns, local store marketing, packaging, corporate communications, presentations, social media content, and franchise sales materials.

The designer will also manage Planet M, our company-wide image and asset library, ensuring that creative files are organized, accessible, and current. The ideal candidate combines creativity with strong organizational and communication skills, delivering high-quality, on-brand work that supports business goals and reflects the unique spirit of Mellow Mushroom.

Works With

Internal: Associate Director of Marketing and Creative, Graphic Designer, Creative Services & Retail Specialist, Marketing Specialists, department project management leaders and specialists, cross-functional HGI department leaders, and local store franchisee partners.

External: Agency partners, photographers, stylists, and fulfillment partners.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Collaborate with members of the Brand Development team to create point-of-purchase and promotional materials for system-wide and test campaigns across multiple channels.

Develop unique toolkits for new store openings, including email, social media, and store signage design needs.

Create company-wide communications and presentations.

Support and contribute to the development of off-premise packaging.

Support design and creative needs for the development of Franchise Sales.

Design for brand content (social media, motion graphics, video editing, apparel designs, store signage, etc.).

Retouch, color correct, and edit photography to brand standards.

Collaborate with other designers and creative team members to produce final project elements and deliverables.

Maintain high-quality standards in the production of creative work, staying up-to-date on design trends and digital best practices.

Understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and target audiences to guide design work.

Ensure timely completion and delivery of creative projects, reporting progress and any anticipated delays from planned timelines.

Present completed design work and project to team members.

Support project managers with various jobs and tasks while managing deliverables.

Maintain Digital Assets and file storage systems, adhering to naming conventions and organizational standards.

Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or similar discipline.

Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills.

5+ years’ experience (academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, etc.

Proven experience with graphic design, with a strong portfolio of work.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; use keyboard and computer screen and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to focus at night.

Occasional travel may be required through driving of a personal or rented vehicle or flying in an airplane to company meetings, events or restaurants.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm of which 2 days can be work from home. Additional hours outside of normal business hours and days of the week may occur as well as the occasional overnight or weekend.

Travel Minimal travel of 10% - 15% travel expected during a calendar year.
