Director of Nursing Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) supervises and coordinates nursing services in a 24‑hour correctional setting. The DON verifies patient needs are met, evaluates nursing care and unit performance, plans work, and collaborates with the Assistant Director of Nursing, Health Services Administrator, and Regional Leadership to meet contractual and clinical targets.
Minimum Requirements / Preferences
Graduate of an accredited nursing school. Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred.
Licensed to practice nursing in the State and board‑certified or board‑eligible in medicine.
Experience providing services to an adult population.
Specialty certification in correctional healthcare desired (CCHP or CCHP‑RN).
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience; correctional healthcare experience preferred.
Previous clinical operations management and direct management experience in a correctional health setting preferred.
Knowledge of accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA, state‑specific) and quality improvement programs preferred.
Essential Functions
Utilize a systematic approach to meet each patient’s health needs.
Provide quality oversight and clinical supervision to nursing staff; implement work structure and processes aligned with contract requirements.
Evaluate patient care delivery processes systematically; report findings; use data for performance improvement.
Facilitate development of performance improvement plans; monitor progress; contribute to key performance indicators and Clinical Quality Initiatives.
Lead accreditation readiness audits; develop action plans and monitor compliance.
Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, competency assessments, and professional development for nursing staff.
Ensure compliance with state licensure, accreditation, and regulatory requirements; verify annual licensures and credentialing.
Engage in pharmacy, therapeutic, and process improvement committees; support company initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and clinical performance.
Compensation Details : $128,000–$145,600 yearly salary.
Employment Type : Full‑time (Day Shift).
