We are seeking a talented Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) with leadership capability to lead our Fire Protection (FP) Department and support the function enterprise-wide from select office locations. Primary responsibilities will include:
Serve as lead FP engineer and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues for engineering staff
Participate in the design of fire protection systems and coordinate with other disciplines on projects - performing calculations and attending review meetings
Create detailed plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by
Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects
Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by staff
Communicate and collaborate with other department managers across all office locations
Prepare and deliver various internal and external engineering-related presentations
Perform department leader activities including hiring, coaching and training of staff
The basic requirements for this position include:
7+ years professional experience in fire protection engineering/design
PE/FPE license required - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required
Advanced working knowledge of building codes, Fire codes, NFPA Standards and FM Global Data Sheets
Proficient in standard engineering procedures with proven critical thinking ability who works analytically in a quantitative problem solving environment
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Self‑motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive as part of a team
Team supervisory experience
Proficient relevant software skills including Revit, Bluebeam, BIM and MS office
Skilled technical writer
