to lead and oversee all field service operations, with a strong emphasis on power , field truck, and equipment services.
Job Summary : The
Field Service Manager
is responsible for directing and managing all field service operations at Interstate Power Systems’ Lakeville facility, ensuring exceptional repair and maintenance services for heavy-duty diesel trucks, off-highway equipment, and power systems. This leadership role involves overseeing field service teams, coordinating complex service schedules, driving customer satisfaction, and ensuring operational excellence across all field activities, including but not limited to power , field truck services, and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep expertise in heavy-duty diesel mechanics, generator service, and field operations, with experience managing unionized teams .
Key Responsibilities
Field Service Leadership : Lead, train, and inspire a team of factory-certified field technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality service delivery in all field operations.
Field Operations Oversight : Manage all field service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance for heavy-duty diesel trucks, off-highway equipment, and power systems, ensuring seamless execution in the field.
Power Expertise : Oversee specialized field services for power equipment, ensuring reliable performance and compliance with industry standards.
Field Truck and Equipment Services : Direct field truck and equipment service operations, ensuring timely and high-quality repairs to minimize customer downtime.
Customer Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing field service inquiries, providing repair updates, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
Workflow and Resource Coordination : Plan and prioritize field service schedules to optimize technician productivity, reduce equipment downtime, and ensure efficient use of resources across multiple job sites.
Quality Assurance : Ensure all field repairs and services meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards, conduct field inspections as needed.
Inventory and Parts Coordination : Work closely with the parts department to secure necessary components for field services, managing inventory to support power and equipment repair needs.
Financial and Performance Management : Monitor field service department performance, manage budgets, and drive revenue and profitability goals specific to field operations.
Compliance and Safety : Enforce adherence to safety regulations, DOT standards, and environmental policies in all field service activities, ensuring a safe working environment for technicians and clients.
Reporting and Analysis : Generate and analyze field service performance reports, tracking KPIs such as job completion times, customer satisfaction, and technician efficiency in the field.
Qualifications
Experience : Minimum of 5 years in heavy-duty diesel truck repair, off-highway equipment maintenance, or power service, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing field operations. Experience with brands such as Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, Allison Transmission, or MTU is .
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology, business management, or a related field is a plus.
Certifications : ASE certifications, manufacturer-specific training, or credentials in diesel mechanics or generator repair are highly desirable.
Skills :
Advanced technical expertise in heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and power systems, with a focus on field service applications.
Proven leadership and team management skills, particularly in managing field-based technicians.
Exceptional communication and customer service abilities to support field operations and client interactions.
Proficiency with service management software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple field projects in a fast-paced environment.
Other Requirements :
Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
Ability to lift to 50 pounds and work in field and shop environments.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends based on field service demands.
Qualifications

Familiarity with DOT regulations and annual inspections for heavy-duty trucks.
