Position Overview:

The Financial Aid Counselor will assist the Student Financial Services Department with the awarding and administration of the Federal, State, and institutional financial aid programs by following all aid policies and procedures for the purpose of recruiting and retaining students at Concordia University; ensures that the aid system is accurate, efficient, and in accordance with Federal and State regulations. The Financial Aid Counselor provides financial counseling, Student Accounts support, awards financial aid and certifies student aid on behalf of the institution in order to assure the integrity and quality of such services, and also requires direct assistance with New Student Admissions events as determined by the University.

Administration and awarding financial aid programs by complying with Federal and State regulations and institutional policies for the purpose of recruiting and retaining students

Maintaining financial aid records by collecting data from other administrative offices on campus, collecting required applications and documentation from students, obtaining student financial aid information from the Department of Education and State of Minnesota

Assisting with preparation and distribution of financial aid information, workshops, presentations, visits, Admitted Student Day, and conferences

Maintains strong level of customer service by counseling students and parents, in person, by telephone and email; works with students to resolve holds and past-due balances for the purpose of retention

Consults with various offices and external agencies to resolve related to eligibility, processing, certification, and payment issues.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor Degree: Required

Financial Aid experience: Preferred

Pay Range:

$50,000 - $55,000 per year
