Overview
Job Role: Windows Server Engineer
Location: Remote
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage
Windows Server
environments (2016/2019/2022/2025).
Collaborate with security, cloud, and application teams to support
hybrid identity solutions
(e.g., Azure AD, ADFS, SSO, MFA).
Lead
Active Directory migrations ,
domain consolidations ,
forest redesigns
and
Domain Trusts .
Administer and maintain
Active Directory , including
Group Policy Objects (GPOs) ,
OU structure ,
FSMO roles , and
AD replication .
Manage
DNS ,
DHCP ,
File Services , and
Certificate Services .
Implement and maintain
security policies ,
patch management , and
compliance standards .
Thorough functional understanding and ability to configure Active Directory Server Roles (CAs, IIS, File/Print, DNS).
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows servers, AD authentication, and domain trust relationships.
Support
user and group management ,
access control , and
permissions .
Collaborate with other IT teams on
identity and access management (IAM) ,
cloud integrations , and
hybrid AD environments
(e.g., Azure AD).
Participate in
disaster recovery planning ,
backup strategies , and
high availability configurations .
Analyze current Active Directory environment to identify both technical and operational challenges and develop solutions for improvement.
Document configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Strong knowledge of
PowerShell scripting
for automation and reporting.
Experience with
Group Policy ,
DNS/DHCP ,
ADFS ,
LDAP , and
Kerberos .
Administer and optimize
internal and external DNS
zones, records, and integrations with cloud platforms.
Manage
external SSL/TLS certificates
using providers such as
DigiCert
and
Lumen , including procurement, renewal, and deployment.
· Implement and maintain
PKI infrastructure ,
certificate templates , and
auto-enrollment policies . Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Strong understanding of AD Attributes, LDAP Queries, PowerShell Scripting to Modify AD Attributes, Group Policy Analysis, GPO Configuration & Item-Level Targeting.
Expert-level knowledge of:
Active Directory architecture and replication
Group Policy design and troubleshooting
PowerShell scripting and automation
DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kerberos, and NTLM
Design and deploy applications utilizing the AWS stack (including EC2, Route53, S3, Lambda, etc.) to build scalable, secure, and robust cloud solutions.
Create and implement automation processes and standards for AWS cloud services.
Ensure all infrastructure components meet proper performance and security standards.
Collaborate with team members to improve the company’s engineering tools, systems, procedures, and data security.
Conduct systems tests for security, performance, and availability.
Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation.
Participate in the creation of new policies and procedures for cloud service use and compliance.
Migrate complex, multi-tier applications on AWS.
Implement cost-control strategies.
Maintain and improve existing cloud infrastructure.
Work with developers to optimize applications for the cloud.
Automate cloud deployment and configuration processes.
Ensure cloud architecture meets all necessary compliance standards.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
Establish disaster recovery procedures and conduct security audit procedures.
Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until 11/10/25.
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000- $91,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
