Main Purpose of Job The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) seeks an

Executive Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Support Services (Executive Associate III) . The role supports the Deputy Secretary, coordinates high‑priority initiatives, oversees administrative operations, and enhances program implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Operations: Coordinating daily activities, streamlining workflows, and supporting program, policy, and procedure implementation.

Managing Projects: Overseeing sensitive, high‑priority initiatives, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion.

Supporting Decision‑Making: Conducting research, analyzing data, preparing reports, briefings, and recommendations to aid the Deputy Secretary.

Representing Leadership: Preparing communications, presentations, and talking points, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Optimizing Resources: Assisting with staffing, scheduling, budget oversight, and resource coordination for efficient operations.

Cultivating Teams: Mentoring administrative staff and management associates to foster professional growth.

Advancing Goals: Supporting initiatives that strengthen juvenile justice outcomes and advance the Department’s mission.

Hybrid telework schedule is available. Some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Education: High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent recognized by the Maryland State Board of Education. Experience: Five (5) or more years of executive administrative support to senior leaders or C‑Suite executives.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) or more years experience with Power BI, Google Apps, or Microsoft Office Suite.

Three (3) or more years experience supporting executive operations (travel, calendars, communications, meetings, reports, projects).

Experience managing confidential information.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and time‑management skills.

Ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external leaders.

Passion for empowering young people through transformative initiatives.
