Job Summary As a Production Engineer II, the applicant will identify production line priorities and address abnormalities to meet customer delivery targets for cylindrical batteries. The role requires strong data analysis skills and the ability to communicate across multiple teams and operators to develop and implement solutions.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering activities measuring success through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Report SQCD status and improvement plans regularly (weekly/monthly).
Address quality reports and events promptly to minimize impacts; track production records, identify highest fallout, and report/address causes (send out quality alerts and report to team leader, complete NCR reports).
Develop short, mid, and long‑term improvement projects to address recurring quality issues.
Communicate with team members and other departments to review activities and collaborate on problem solving.
Identify production line priorities, abnormalities (downtime, equipment issues), and any range of risk to product.
Communicate with local and international vendors and the purchasing department to facilitate equipment installation, repairs, and replacements.
Update standard documents after minor or critical SQCD issues to prevent recurrence. All improvement plans (Lessons Learned) must be recorded in standard documents such as Control Plan, Work Standard, Breakdown Maintenance (BM)/Process Down (PD)/Preventive Maintenance (PM) Guide, Operating Manual, etc.
Teach and mentor other engineers, delegating tasks when appropriate, and train production team members on new equipment or procedures.
Maintain cleanliness at the work‑site in accordance with 5S3R Standards.
5S: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
3R: Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container.
Ensure work is completed safely and maintain a safe work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or plant environment (internships and co‑ops included).
Ability to properly and regularly utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for up to 12 hours.
Physical requirements: lift/push/pull up to 35 pounds on occasion, stoop, twist, bend, reach overhead, sit and/or stand for lengthy periods.
Willingness to work in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment as part of a collaborative, cross‑functional team.
Desired Skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CAD or production management systems is a plus.
Strong problem‑solving skills and hands‑on aptitude in a production setting.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools and concepts (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) is a plus.
Ability to analyze data and present findings clearly and concisely. Experience with JMP, Minitab is a plus.
