VP COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING Indiana University's Office of the Vice President for Communications and Marketing (VPCM) is charged with elevating the university’s visibility to state, national, and international audiences, enhancing reputation, and supporting enrollment growth. VPCM seeks a Videographer to capture and edit video that supports university-wide marketing and branding efforts, including organic social media, signature university events, storytelling, paid social media, and other paid digital advertising initiatives.

General Responsibilities

Identifies basic, complex, special, and/or urgent videography projects for use in a variety of marketing and communications needs; sets timelines, determines desired video composition, performs necessary interviews and/or research, and selects and adjusts subjects, equipment, and lighting to achieve desired artistic effects.

Captures and edits video footage using various equipment and software, including Adobe Creative Suite, adjusting to formatting specifications of marketing and communications project needs, audiences, and platforms; may delegate basic editing tasks to Videography Assistant(s).

Regularly consults with marketing and communications staff and other key stakeholders to determine project needs and ensure video elements align with strategy and objectives.

Maintains inventory of filming equipment, including editing lab equipment, lenses, lights, and cameras; performs basic and more complex equipment repairs.

Seeks input from peers and stakeholders on a variety of videography projects to evaluate effectiveness of different aesthetics, lighting, images, etc.

May provide organizational training on videography methodology and strategy.

May provide guidance to Videography Assistants or lower-level Videographers.

Education — Required

Bachelor’s degree in video production, art, or related field.

Work Experience — Required

2 years of experience in relevant field.

Work Experience — Preferred

Experience in the creation of consistently branded videos that encourage sharing, engagement, and promotion of highly valuable programs and initiatives.

Experienced in large and small‑scale video production, ranging from long‑lead times to quick‑turn production.

Skills — Required

Ability to be responsive and an excellent collaborator, with a solid track record of video storytelling.

The role frequently requires the ability to effectively communicate, handle equipment, remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs, move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, detect items in close proximity as well as far away, discern colors, detect objects in peripheral space, and maintain good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary.
