POSITION SUMMARY
The University of South Florida College of Nursing is seeking an outstanding nurse scientist for the position of the Lyall and Beatrice Thompson Nursing Professorship in Oncology. The nurse scientist holding this professorship will sustain a robust, state‑of‑the‑art clinical program of research in oncology and quality of life issues. This esteemed position comes with a generous start‑up package and the opportunity to collaborate with clinician colleagues at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute to enhance research in quality‑of‑life care for persons with cancer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Hold an earned PhD in nursing.
Meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
Have a record of research relevant to oncology and/or related fields.
Have a strong history of federal funding, demonstrated leadership with building and managing a research enterprise, commitment to excellence in teaching, and a vision that will position the College and the Sarasota Memorial's Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute prominently on the national stage.
If a nurse, the candidate must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
Has experience collaborating with a national cancer center.
Has experience with center or training grants and programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES The nurse scientist will maintain a high level of external grant‑supported research, disseminate research discoveries, and promote the translation of research findings into practice by working closely with colleagues. The incumbent will mentor faculty, clinician scientists, and students; participate in interdisciplinary grant applications for centers and training programs; and maintain individual extramural funding.
