2025-2026 Head Coach - JV Girls' Soccer - HS Salary / Hours
Pay: One-time stipend of $2,800.00 Hours: To be set in conjunction with the Athletic Director Job Summary
Meets the needs and interests of the school community. Provides effective leadership to ensure a positive learning environment. Demonstrates high ethics, professionalism, and human relations; serves as a positive role model for all students. Reports to the Director of Athletics/Director of Student Activities. Qualifications
Membership in the Maryland Council of Schools (MPCS) staff preferred. Knowledge and background in assigned sport. Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport desirable. Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties
Host organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to join the sport. Assess players’ skills and assign team positions. Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development. Work with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions. Observe players during competition and practice to determine needs for improvement. Determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior and always provide proper supervision of athletes. Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury. Conference with parents/guardians as necessary regarding the athletic performance of their students. Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program. Model sportslike behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators. Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media and organizations. Participate in special activities including parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies. Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related records. Instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategies, and physical training necessary for success. Instruct participants on personal hygiene and safety procedures and the need to report injuries immediately. Foster among participants and spectators an appreciation of athletic values, desire to win, sportsmanship, and community pride. Act as a positive influence on staff and team behavior. Be present and personally direct the team at all JV contests. Ensure a safe environment through adequate supervision. Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records. Issue, collect, inventory, and store equipment and maintain accurate records. Convey team policies locally and to participants (e.g., MPCS Student Responsibilities and Rights and Extra Curricular Activities). Ensure compliance with Virginia High School League, regional and district councils, and MPCS regulations. Submit eligibility rosters, player addresses, etc., to the Director of Athletic/Director of Student Activities. Follow School Activity Funds Manual and local school policies regarding financial transactions. Establish procedures for communicating with parents/guardians. Implement injury procedures appropriately. Ensure availability of first aid kit and emergency care cards. Inspect facilities, equipment, and environmental conditions to ensure safety. Participate in professional growth activities. Participate in award programs in adherence to school procedures. Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning. Physical Requirements
Must effectively communicate and interact with staff and the public using telephone and personal contact; see, read, talk, hear, and handle objects. Ability to use office equipment such as computer, calculator, copier, fax. Requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Clearances (Conditions for Employment)
