Grid Systems Senior Solution Architect – 1898 & Co.
1898 & Co., a division of Burns & McDonnell, is seeking an experienced Grid Systems Solution Architect to provide utility grid operations modernization consulting services for our electric utility clients. The selected candidate will join the Enterprise System & Integration team.
Responsibilities
Apply industry experience and leading practices to architect, design, develop and implement SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS solutions to support complex business requirements.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS to support commissioning, testing and deployment.
Provide field support, troubleshooting, and project coordination to enhance and maintain SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS, including new SCADA system commissioning and field data verification for advanced distribution applications.
Lead or assist with program estimating, planning, and budgeting efforts and be accountable for program/project delivery execution.
Support analysis, design, build, test, triaging defects, configuration, and deployment activities; apply Waterfall and Agile methods.
Ensure successful project completion by budget, scope, quality, and business objectives; supervise overall project status and milestones.
Act as an application and solution architect, including business process design activities and end‑to‑end integration solutions.
Maintain overall project quality of deliverables and provide central point of contact for all project interdependencies.
Use project execution experience to influence process and quality assurance protocols; ensure compliance with company safety policies.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 7 years of experience in enterprise or operations architecture strategies and integration solutions.
Preferred: 5+ years in the electric utility industry.
Strong enterprise architecture and integration skills—data, cloud, middleware, communications.
Experience with large‑scale enterprise transformation projects.
Experience with operational systems such as OMS, DMS, ADMS, AMI, distribution automation, and DER.
Strong leadership, analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Waterfall and Agile project methodologies and executive‑level technology assessments.
Travel available; 25% of time.
Travel: Yes, 25% of the time.
