Azuluna Farms is a mission-driven, regenerative livestock & poultry agriculture company committed to improving human and planetary health through responsible animal husbandry, ecosystem restoration, and nutrient-dense foods. As a vertically integrated operation, we oversee every step of our food system—from soil to plate. We are proud to be New England’s scalable regenerative livestock enterprise, producing ethically raised meat & eggs for our four business lines: 1) Wholesale products for regional specialty stores and ecommerce; 2) Supplier of meats, eggs and consumer package goods (CPGs) products 3) Supplier of meat & eggs for macro & micro balanced ready-to eat medically tailored meals using our meat and eggs (direct to consumer/on-line), and 4) Experiential Livestock Educational & agritourism to promote “Food as Medicine” with our Healthy Habits initiative.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning & Oversight
Develop, maintain and implement long-term plans for livestock management, rotational grazing, pasture improvement, and soil health restoration, including certifications for Animal Welfare, Organic Egg Certification (Incl. Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) certification, CT Egg Layer Certification, Regenified / Whole foods certification).
Collaborate with leadership to align farm operations with business goals and regenerative principles.
Farm Operations
Oversee all aspects of livestock care and pasture management including lamb, poultry (broilers and layers), and pork production.
Manage the seasonal grazing calendar, animal movements, and infrastructure needs (fencing, water, shelter).
Ensure compliance with job-site safety standards, animal welfare certifications, animal nutrition requirements, and environmental regulations.
Vehicle and equipment management to assure safety, operational excellence, cost effectiveness of all farm equipment.
Facility maintenance, capital upgrades and landscape management to support farm & event operations supporting all Azuluna’s operations & goals.
Profit & loss responsibility for farm operations.
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and supervise a high-performing farm team, fostering a culture of accountability, respect, and innovation.
Provide hands‑on leadership in the field and mentor team members in animal sciences, regenerative soil practices, equipment maintenance, efficient and safe work practices.
Partner Coordination
Work closely with supply chain partners: 1) Animal Breeders and Feeders 2) Feed Suppliers (organic & non‑GMO), 3) Processing Facilities (livestock & poultry), 4) Farm Subcontractors, Equipment & Vehicle Support 5) satellite farms used for education (hub & spoke program).
Support the logistics and coordination of animal breeding, sourcing processing, transport, and storage of farm products.
Engage with organizations that help to enhance farm operations such as APPA (American Pastured Poultry Producers Assn), Livestock Institute, Northeast Pasture Raised Association, FFOA, Regional Agricultural Vocational Schools, URI Animal Sciences, UCONN Ag Sciences, Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Data & Reporting.
Data & Reporting
Maintain records related to animal health/breeding, pasture usage, feed, and production metrics, safety and operational efficiency.
Regularly report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operational updates to leadership.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in livestock agriculture, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
Thorough understanding of animal husbandry, regenerative agriculture, rotational grazing systems, and holistic land management.
Operational proficiency in heavy equipment (large tractors), skid steer, backhoe, haying equipment (round baler), specialized trailers (manure/livestock & grain transport), 14‑tone automated grain silos, automated watering and feed systems, large trailers (gooseneck).
Demonstrated ability to manage teams and build operational systems.
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and farm management software.
Preferred:
Associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Animal Science, Agronomy, Sustainable Agriculture, or a related field.
Experience working in vertically integrated or mission-driven agricultural enterprises.
Familiarity with animal welfare certifications (e.g. GAP, Certified Humane).
