This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in managing consumer products programs for some of the top brands in video games from SEGA’s rockstar roster of games, including Sonic the Hedgehog and many more!
As the Associate Licensing Manager of Soft lines, you will help shape and implement the future of SEGA's award-winning consumer products program by directly influencing strategy and overseeing go-to-market of SEGA many soft lines programs. You will use your experience in outbound licensing to bring exciting programs to life for SEGA IP that deliver revenue, drive awareness and boost engagement of fans with SEGA IP. This position will also discover and recommend innovative licensing opportunities and categories across soft lines that further SEGA’s presence at retail and among fans. You will manage the negotiation of licensing deals, execute agreements and own the relationship with licensees entirely. Your understanding of retail will create incremental opportunities for placement and marketing. This position will report to the Softlines Senior Licensing Manager to determine short-term strategic objectives and contribute to the long-term strategies of the licensing department.
Duties And Responsibilities
Manage soft lines programs with existing and new partners, inclusive of contract execution, deal term negotiations, analyzing performance and strategy for product sell-in and sell-through. Oversee the execution of all licensing documents and clearances (NDAs, deal memos, merchandise license agreements, amendments, etc.) and manage licensing contracts. Manage the process between licensee and SEGA Corporate Finance and Accounting to ensure accuracy of royalty reporting on a quarterly basis and timely receipt of payments. Identify white space opportunities and ways for the SEGA consumer products business to grow Liaise with Product Development team to ensure timely approval of products which may include: lead meetings; coordinate programs across all categories; review line lists; respond to product development team in the case of product submission changes; execute merchandising plans; public relations and advertising coordination. Contribute to the development of marketing materials and presentation of SEGA IP to potential and existing licensees by adding input on what resonates best with licensees and retailers. Obtain quarterly sales forecasts and work closely with licensees to ensure reported numbers are in line with forecasted numbers. Work with direct supervisor to compile and analyze retail sell-through information including analyzing sales trends. Other duties as assigned. Work with the Licensing Operations Specialist on quarterly reporting as requested by Licensing Ops Specialist. Possible duties may include following up with licensees on outstanding royalty reports, incorrect or incomplete data, etc. Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons: For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status. To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams. To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation. To enhance understanding of our stakeholders’ work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 3+ years of experience in outbound consumer products licensing Strong proficiency in handling licensing contracts and fluency in negotiating key business terms Knowledge of the retail market in general to envision new consumer product opportunities Excellent relationship builder with collaborative team player mentality Accomplished communicator and analyst with attention to detail Team player and collaborator Resourceful, takes initiative and self-starter
Bonus Skills
2+ years of license-out experience in entertainment licensing specifically Understanding of Licensing financials Character licensing management experience a plus
