is seeking an
Assistant Controller . This position is a vital member of the accounting and finance department, supporting the Controller in managing the organization's financial operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, developing accounting processes in collaboration with the Controller and CFO, and implementing accounting processes, and assisting and audit processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Support the Controller in managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts.
Contribute to the development and implementation of internal controls, and accounting processes and policies to ensure accurate and detailed financial statements.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support organizational planning.
Prepare documentation and schedules for annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting and finance department.
Development and implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs)
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
Support ad-hoc financial projects and analysis as requested by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA strongly preferred
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
Public Accounting or Big Four Firm experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks, Netsuite, and Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles
Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
