Position Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of a growing aerospace manufacturing company. This position reports to the CFO and plays an active role in maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with monthly financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team‑oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries for recurring, adjusting, and accrual transactions.
Perform monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts including cash, AR, AP, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
Assist the CFO in the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Conduct general ledger reviews to identify errors or unusual trends and propose corrections.
Support financial statement preparation, including income statement and balance sheet analysis.
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, recording new additions, disposals, and depreciation.
Assist with inventory accounting—including inventory valuation, cost rollups, and variance analysis.
Prepare and monitor accruals for expenses such as payroll, utilities, and purchasing.
Support cash flow management activities, including posting of receipts, recording disbursements, and reconciling bank accounts.
Collaborate with the CFO to improve internal controls, strengthen accounting accuracy, and streamline processes.
Utilize Datarails to assist with financial reporting, monthly variance analysis, and forecast updates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company metrics.
Assist with external audits, tax filings, and other compliance reporting as needed.
Provide backup support for AP/AR functions when required, ensuring cross‑departmental accuracy and coverage.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2–4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in manufacturing or aerospace.
Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and general ledger systems.
Experience with ERP systems (Global Shop Solutions, Epicor, or similar preferred).
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in job cost accounting or project‑based manufacturing.
Familiarity with financial analytics or forecasting tools (e.g., Datarails, Power BI).
Demonstrated initiative in process improvement and automation of accounting tasks.
Strong coachability and openness to learning new systems, processes, and analytical methods.
Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to take on varied responsibilities in a lean structure.
