Cybersecurity Intern Brief Description of Role & Responsibility: This position will give students the opportunity to work on projects and tasks that help advance the cybersecurity posture of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). The individual will play an instrumental role in ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of CCHMC data.

An ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or a similar field. The program provides students with real‑world experience and an understanding of emerging technologies used in healthcare settings. Most work will be performed remotely, with occasional office visits. Candidates will be exposed to multiple areas of cybersecurity and gain an understanding of practicing information security in a healthcare setting.

Security Operations:

Security incident response, vulnerability management processes, intrusion detection, log monitoring & SIEM maintenance.

Governance, Policy, and Disaster Recovery:

Information security frameworks and policy, legal and regulatory compliance, disaster recovery planning and testing.

Endpoint Security:

Mobile device management, antivirus & system protection, encryption management, data loss prevention systems and techniques, medical device security.

Security Risk Management and Awareness:

Security assessments and testing, training and awareness programs.

Identity & Access Management:

Roles, entitlements, and access provisioning.

Learning & Development:

Learn daily routines of healthcare/research investigators; develop awareness of academic, technical and personal skills required in healthcare/research professions; comply with policies protecting patient rights; complete required training; adhere to safe work practices; model core standards.

Job Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in a degree‑granting college program.
