Project Planning and Delivery Section

is looking to fill multiple Project Control Engineer II positions with professionals that are excited about cost control, scheduling, and have experience supporting large capital programs. Successful candidates would join our team of 300+ professionals that are responsible for delivering the capital program at the King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD),

About The Role: Project control functions include assisting project teams with project development, planning, budgeting, contracting, scheduling, and cost control measures as well as the monitoring and control aspects of assigned projects and contracts.

This posting aims to fill at least 4 positions.

What You Will Be Doing:

Support project managers on standard technical development of project, schedule, and budget baselines along with preparation, review and analysis of Portfolio spend plans.

Support the procurement process for contracts: review and process progress payments, amendments, change orders and crosswalks to ensure compliance with established procedures and contract terms and conditions.

Review and analyze project schedules and construction schedules to document inconsistencies or to note missing information. Lead monthly project schedule updates with input from consultant and project team members.

Coordinate and develop project support elements such as the basis of estimate, life cycle cost analysis, risk assessment and general project support tasks.

Support SharePoint business processes and workflows for projects during design and construction.

Assist field construction personnel in the negotiation of proposed change orders. Prepare independent estimates, quantity takeoffs of materials, labor and equipment as required. Initiate the approval process for the change documents.

Qualification You Bring:

Knowledge of project management techniques and principles.

Work experience as a project control engineer or equivalent field.

Knowledge of cost estimating, scheduling, and risk assessment techniques and principles.

Experience developing critical path schedules.

Experience with public contract administration.

Experience working effectively with various project stakeholders.

Strong software skills that support the delivery of work products as well as gathering, manipulating, and using data, such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and database management programs.

It Would Be Great If You Also Bring:

Working knowledge of project management processes and areas described by the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge.

Work Location:

The Project and Planning Delivery team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King Street Center - 201 S Jackson Seattle WA 98104. Employees must reside in Washington State and be within reasonable proximity to King County worksites to meet in-person work requirements. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

Work Schedule:

This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.

Union Representation:

This position is represented by King County Technical Employees' Association (TEA) bargaining unit.

Anticipated Timeline for this recruitment (subject to change):

Technical assessment/interview: Virtual - early December 2025.

Panel interviews: Virtual - mid December 2025.
