The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Upstream Reservoir Engineer to join our growing consulting practice. This role offers the opportunity to work with leading energy clients on complex reservoir challenges, leveraging your technical expertise to deliver high-impact solutions. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support strategic decision-making, optimize asset performance, and contribute to digital transformation initiatives across the upstream value chain.

Your Key Responsibilities

Managing client relationships and leading client engagements from planning through execution and closure.

Developing resource plans and budgets for engagements, ensuring engagement economics are effectively managed.

Providing leadership and direction to team members, offering feedback and guidance to enhance performance.

Designing, developing, and delivering innovative infrastructure solutions aligned with user and business needs.

Skills And Attributes For Success

Provide technical leadership in reservoir engineering engagements, including reservoir modeling, production forecasting, and reserves evaluation.

Design and validate production calculations for forecasting modules, ensuring accuracy and consistency across client deliverables.

Apply advanced analytical techniques to evaluate reservoir performance across a variety of asset types, including unconventional plays.

Utilize tools such as Aries, ComboCurve, and Mosaic to support client engagements and internal solution development.

Collaborate with geoscientists, data scientists, and business consultants to deliver integrated solutions that align with client objectives.

Contribute to the development of thought leadership, methodologies, and accelerators within the Energy sector practice.

Proven experience in managing complex projects and delivering results.

Strong analytical skills to develop solutions to complex problems.

Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities in guiding teams and managing change.

To Qualify for the Role

A Bachelor’s degree required (4‑year degree); Master’s degree preferred.

Typically, no less than 5‑7 years relevant experience.

Strong proficiency in Aries, ComboCurve, Mosaic, and other reservoir engineering and forecasting tools.

Demonstrated ability to design and review production forecasting calculations with a high degree of technical rigor.

Experience with reserves reporting and familiarity with SEC and PRMS guidelines.

Ideally You’ll Also Have

Strong negotiation and influencing skills to drive project success.

Emotional agility to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics.

Experience in hybrid collaboration environments to enhance team performance.

Prior consulting experience or a strong aptitude for client‑facing roles.

Familiarity with digital oilfield technologies, data analytics, and cloud‑based platforms.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical insights into business value.

A proactive, collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation in the energy sector.

What We Offer You

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $171,600 to $392,100. Remaining ranges given.

Join us in our team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40‑60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.

Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, winter/summer breaks, personal/family care, and other leaves of absence when needed.
