Staff Data Scientist Location: San Francisco, CA (100% On-site)

Compensation: $200,000 - $300,000 (Base Salary) + Equity

We are a high‑growth, well‑funded AI company building the most advanced conversational AI agents for the enterprise, serving customers like Duolingo, Notion, and Rippling. We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to bring deep technical rigor, advanced statistical methods, and analytical frameworks to our product and business strategy. This role requires a blend of strong analytical expertise, product acumen, and the ability to influence strategic decision‑making at the highest levels.

Responsibilities

Deep‑Dive Analysis: Conduct rigorous, deep‑drive analyses using advanced statistical methods on user behavior, product performance, and business outcomes to surface highly actionable insights.

Experimentation: Design, implement, and analyze controlled A/B test experiments at scale to measure product changes and customer experience; champion establishing our experimentation culture.

ML Model Evaluation: Evaluate and interpret performance of ML models (e.g., classification, recommendation, LLM‑based systems), helping product and engineering teams reason through trade‑offs, limitations, and business implications.

Data Strategy: Enhance and extend the company’s data models, metrics, and dashboards to ensure consistent, scalable reporting across all teams.

Infrastructure: Build and continuously improve the data stack, ensuring scalable models, pipelines, and tools that empower self‑serve analytics across the company.

Strategic Influence: Communicate findings clearly and persuasively to executives and cross‑functional stakeholders, directly influencing product strategy and key business decisions.

Requirements

Experience: 5+ years (or equivalent experience) in data science or product analytics roles, ideally within high‑scale consumer or marketplace products.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with a strong, foundational knowledge in statistics and experimental design.

Problem Structuring: Strong ability to structure ambiguous problems, translate them into analytical approaches, and reliably deliver business impact through data.

Experimentation Track Record: Proven history of designing, running, and analyzing A/B test experiments at scale.

ML Fluency: Ability to reason about and analyze machine learning models (including understanding their assumptions, trade‑offs, and impact on product outcomes).

Communication: Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated experience influencing stakeholders and driving high‑level decisions across diverse teams.
