Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture We have an opportunity for a Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture to join our IT Leadership team in Santa Clara, CA (HQ), Tacoma, WA, or remote, reporting to the CIO. In this pivotal role, you will shape the architectural foundation that enables agility, scalability, and resilience across our digital platforms. You will lead the design and governance of enterprise‑wide architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to drive modernization initiatives, adopt emerging technologies, and ensure our systems are secure, performant, and future‑ready.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with business strategy and growth objectives
Translate complex business requirements into scalable, sustainable architectural solutions
Lead architecture governance forums and define principles, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance
Drive capability heat maps to identify opportunities for technology to exceed business goals across domains
Champion cloud-native technologies and modern development practices such as container orchestration, serverless computing, and API-first architecture
Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies through proof-of-concept initiatives and strategic selection of hardware/software
Architect and govern AI platforms, including machine learning, LLMs, and deep learning, while managing AI strategy, governance, and use case lifecycle
Build and mentor a high-performing architecture team, fostering innovation, collaboration, and alignment across enterprise, infrastructure, security, product, and data teams
Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership
Establish architecture governance frameworks and ensure adherence to security, privacy, and regulatory standards such as SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA
What You Bring
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of software architecture experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles within high-growth tech environments
Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure or GCP
Strong knowledge of microservices, API design, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
Familiarity with architecture frameworks and modern design methodologies
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience scaling distributed systems in high-availability, high-traffic environments
Knowledge of data architecture, AI/ML infrastructure, and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana
Relevant professional certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF
Analytical mindset with a passion for innovation, emerging technologies, and continuous learning.
Your Path First 90 Days:
Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.
Six Months:
Establish a forward‑looking enterprise architecture roadmap, implement governance frameworks, and deliver initial modernization initiatives such as cloud‑native adoption and proof‑of‑concept for emerging technologies.
One Year:
Deliver on the roadmap and governance, driving further modernization and AI platform governance.
