The newly formed Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Engineering (MISE) at Tennessee Technological University seeks to fill two full-time, nine-month, open rank, tenure‑track faculty positions to begin August 1, 2026. The College of Engineering is undergoing major growth, with enrollment increasing by 18% over five years, and research expenditures growing from $5.7M in 2019 to nearly $40M. The department will be housed in the new 81,000 sqft Advanced Construction & Manufacturing Engineering (ACME) building, featuring state‑of‑the‑art equipment such as a foundry, laser welding, and additive printers.

Essential Functions

Teach courses in their area of expertise at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.

Develop a nationally recognized and externally funded research program and engage in scholarly activities.

Participate in and develop a leadership profile in professional service.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD from an accredited institution in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.

Teaching experience, scholarly or career accomplishments, and ability to build strong financial partnerships.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues, staff, and other on‑ and off‑campus individuals.

Ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated good character, professional ethics, maturity, teamwork, and familiarity with relevant aspects of an Engineering department.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in the broad area of engineering and engineering technology aligned with the breadth of the department’s emphasis and needs.

Compensation And Benefits

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Full‑time, nine‑month, tenure‑track position to begin August 1, 2026.

Benefits include one sick leave day per month, thirteen University holidays, medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401(k), and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
