Compensation & Schedule Starting Rate: $16.50 per hour. This is a not-tipped position.
Schedule: Part-time, event-based. Morning shifts 5:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years professional pastry or baking experience in a commercial kitchen. Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards correctly.
Proven experience as a pastry cook, baker, or in a similar role
Familiarity with a variety of doughs, pasties, and dessert techniques
Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment (mixers, proofers, ovens)
Strong attention to detail in both taste and presentation
Physical stamina and agility required to be mobile for long periods throughout the day
Lift or move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
Job Summary The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting a variety of high-quality desserts, pastries, or baked goods in accordance with standardized recipes and food safety guidelines. This role requires strong knowledge of pastry fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
Ensures all items meet presentation, portioning, and temperature standards.
Taste and adjusts products as needed to ensure quality, texture, and flavor.
Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.
Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
Attends in-service and safety meetings.
Makes sure the kitchen is clean and safe.
Follows HACCP standards and company policies including glove use and safe lifting techniques.
Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
