Assistant/Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice (Acute Care)
in the School of Pharmacy. This unique 12‑month, non‑tenure track role is a blend of academia and clinical practice, challenging you to shape future pharmacists while maintaining active patient contact. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching, service/practice, and scholarship, with required clinical practice in an inpatient setting near either Fort Wayne, IN or Lansing, MI.
What You’ll Do Teaching & Mentorship (60%)
Provide quality instruction in didactic and/or clinical courses.
Execute roles of ‘course coordinator’ and ‘instructor’ as assigned.
Collaborate with faculty to refine the curriculum and develop innovative teaching methods.
Assess student learning and implement changes to demonstrate continuous improvement.
Be an exemplary professional role model for students and colleagues.
Service & Clinical Practice (30%)
Provide clinical services in an inpatient setting, determined in collaboration with the Department Chair.
Engage in clinical practice and maintain professional competence through direct patient care to keep your license/certification current.
Institutional/Professional (10%)
– Serve as a faculty mentor to students and as an academic advisor as assigned.
Participate in faculty governance, including attending all relevant meetings.
Contribute meaningfully to department planning and participate in state and national professional organizations.
Scholarship (10%)
Lead and participate in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching.
Disseminate the results of your scholarly endeavors in appropriate forums, including publications and presentations.
What You’ll Need
Licensed pharmacist with experience in current pharmacy practice.
Eligible for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor (rank commensurate with experience).
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and support student learning.
Collaborative and adaptable in dynamic teaching environments.
Evidence of scholarly or research engagement (preferred).
Proficient in English and basic computer applications.
