Duties
The major duties of the Information Technology Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plans, develops, and coordinates the implementation of computer-based services and applications in support of the Unit's mission.
Assures compliance with operational and security requirements as directed by the General Services Administration, Departmental, and National Park Service regulations.
Develops local implementing instructions based on guidance developed at higher levels when multiple system issues and network systems are involved.
Performs a variety of database management activities.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Requirements Conditions of Employment:
U.S. Citizenship required.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program required.
Valid driver's license required; submission of Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record required.
Work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required.
Occasional overnight travel may be required; a government charge card for travel purposes required.
Completion of training and maintenance of a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority required.
1‑year probationary period required; detailed expectations outlined in the Conditions of Probationary Period section.

To qualify for the Information Technology Specialist position, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
OR
Applicants' resume must show that they meet the required competencies in accordance with the Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210, Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR).
OR
IT‑related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
Attention to Detail
– thoroughness and conscientiousness in performing work.
Customer Service
– ability to assess client needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
Oral Communication
– effective information delivery to individuals or groups, tailored to audience and content.
Problem Solving
– identification of problems, evaluation of alternatives, and recommendation of solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
GS‑11 Minimum Qualifications
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS‑9 grade level in the federal service (public or private sectors), including experience in research, monitoring and analyzing network traffic and performance, and managing changes to the network.
GS‑12 Minimum Qualifications
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS‑11 grade level in the federal service (public or private sectors), including experience in analyzing computer or network incidents, testing and maintaining network infrastructure, implementing network monitoring and intrusion detection, and installing, configuring, and troubleshooting cybersecurity tools.
Additional Information The work is primarily sedentary, may involve occasional travel to filed sites, and is performed in an office setting.
The position may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
