Company Description Pam is the fastest growing Voice AI and Customer Experience Platform for car dealerships. We bring AI into the heart of dealership operations to answer calls, book service, and follow up automatically without adding headcount, so no customer slips through the cracks.

Hundreds of dealerships across the country trust Pam to handle thousands of sales and service conversations every day. By fixing the “digital door,” we capture revenue that would otherwise be lost and deliver better experiences for both dealers and their customers.

Role Description Pam is an AI playground for builders. We combine strong engineering fundamentals with cutting‑edge AI, creating space for you to grow into the engineer of tomorrow, grounded in systems and powered by modern AI tools.

The Platform team at Pam builds the foundation of our AI agent – from real‑time call control to LLM‑powered inference that drives natural conversations.

As a member of the Platform team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the real‑time voice infrastructure that powers our AI agent. This role requires strong distributed systems expertise, cloud‑native engineering skills, and the ability to design for scale, reliability, and extensibility. You’ll own critical services that handle live conversations, speech processing, and integrations with external APIs, while ensuring observability, security, and operational excellence.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.

Strong fundamentals in object‑oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.

Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to dive deep and own complex projects end‑to‑end.

Expertise in distributed systems design (scalability, fault tolerance, stateful vs. stateless trade‑offs).

Production experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS/Kinesis, CloudWatch).

Strong coding skills in one or more of: TypeScript/Node.js, Go, Java, or Python.

Experience designing APIs and SDKs used by other developers.

Operational excellence: testing, CI/CD, code reviews, on‑call support.

Preferred Qualifications

Voice/real‑time comms: SIP, WebRTC, and WebSocket; experience with Telnyx or Twilio is a plus.

Experience with speech transcription and synthesis pipelines (ASR/VAD, TTS etc.).

Experience working with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) in production.

Demonstrated skill in context engineering to make code and docs clear, discoverable, and AI‑friendly.

Familiarity with prompt engineering and integrating LLM‑driven workflows into products.

Startup or fast‑paced environment experience with high ownership and autonomy.
