Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (C++), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Experience developing accessible technologies.

Experience with running AI Inference on-device.

Experience in ML performance, large-scale systems data analysis, ML debugging, LLMs, or specialized areas within ML.

The Web AI Platform is a team in Chrome that has the ambitious goal of making the web the best place for developers to build, develop and deploy AI features to users.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing the AI computing capabilities of the Web Platform. You will contribute to expanding the reach and improving the performance of on-device AI to all these users. You will work on AI advancements, collaborating with many cross‑functional partners and experts to deliver solutions. With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. Chrome is also an open source project that benefits the web ecosystem.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000‑$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Write product or system development code, including new debugging tools in DevTools to support built‑In AI APIs.

Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.

Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Integrate new LLM models and perform LLM fine tuning to improve model performance.

Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.

Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality. Contribute to the development of WebNN.
