Program Director, Capital Projects – UChicago Medicine
UChicago Medicine is a world‑class academic medical center seeking a visionary Program Director to lead scope, schedule, budget, and quality for high‑profile construction projects, including a 575,000‑sq‑ft, $800 million Cancer Center, the relocation of Central Lab, and expansion into Northwest Indiana. The Program Director reports to the Director of Operational Planning and will execute projects from inception to closeout, managing internal and external resources, coordinating transition and move readiness across the organization. Responsibilities
Plan operations, workflow development, equipment confirmation, and departmental communication for capital projects. Lead move and relocation planning, including training, communication, and future state work for central lab, cancer center, and clinic expansions. Coordinate internal resources, consultants, and contractors to meet schedule milestones and budgetary objectives. Serve as key contributor for architectural design review and validation, and support other strategic capital projects. Develop and implement policies, procedures, workflow diagrams, training plans, and transition plans to ensure operational excellence. Act as liaison and lead for all move‑related activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and performance metrics. Provide strategic leadership and business acumen to operate effectively within the institution. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred). Minimum 8 years of relevant healthcare experience, with a track record managing high‑profile, large projects in a hospital or healthcare environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills at all organizational levels. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills; adept at working in multidisciplinary groups. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and project management software such as MS Project. High degree of computer competency and familiarity with schedule programs. Benefits
