The School’s faculty collaborate with several cross‑disciplinary institutes, centers, and programs, including the Georgia Tech AI4Science Center and PhD programs in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO), Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Bioinformatics, Quantitative Bioscience (QBioS), and Machine Learning (ML@GT).
Job Summary
The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for one postdoctoral research position in the mathematical foundations of Artificial Intelligence for Science for Fall 2026. The position consists of an annually renewable three‑year research and teaching appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematics and includes research funding. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.
Responsibilities
Develop an international level research program aligned with the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.
Collaborate across the university in research and grant efforts.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in School of Mathematics.
Actively participate in the operation of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.
Required Qualifications
A PhD or its equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences, granted not more than 5 years prior to the start of the appointment. An earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Potential to carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech.
Research interests complementary to existing strengths in the School of Mathematics and the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.
Strong potential for external funding.
The ability to teach, conduct scholarship, and/or provide service that contributes to the Student Success Criteria listed below. Candidates with a strong interest in the mathematical foundations of AI4Science will be considered in all areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
Student Success Criteria
The ability to teach and mentor a student body.
The ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students.
