Hardware Reliability Engineer We are seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer to lead the definition and execution of mechanical validation strategies for our advanced datacenter products. In this role, you will be responsible for specifying and coordinating key mechanical and environmental tests—such as shock, vibration, thermal cycling, and HALT—to ensure our systems meet demanding real-world reliability standards. You’ll work cross-functionally with hardware design, thermal engineering, manufacturing, and system integration teams to evaluate risks and drive robust design improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Define reliability and validation test plans
for new hardware products, with a focus on mechanical and thermal stress conditions.
Lead and/or support
shock & vibration ,
thermal cycling ,
HALT ,
HASS , and
temperature/humidity
testing activities.
Establish mechanical, thermal, and environmental
test specifications
aligned with product use cases and reliability goals.
Partner with hardware, mechanical, process, and system engineers to
analyze test results , identify failure modes, and propose corrective actions.
Develop custom test setups, fixtures, and protocols as needed.
Drive
root cause analysis (RCA)
and provide feedback on design improvements.
Maintain test documentation, reliability dashboards, and reports for internal and customer-facing deliverables.
Collaborate with external test labs and vendors when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master’s).
5+ years of experience in
hardware reliability, mechanical validation, or test engineering
for electronics or datacenter hardware.
Strong knowledge of environmental testing standards (e.g.,
ISTA, MIL-STD-810 , or similar).
Experience with
HALT/HASS , thermal cycling, and vibration testing techniques.
Familiarity with
thermal design , heat sinks, and system-level thermal behavior.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence design decisions.
Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Qualifications
Experience in
datacenter hardware , server systems, or high-density electronics.
Familiarity with
refrigerant-based cooling systems , vapor chambers, or cold plate designs.
Knowledge of
reliability modeling and prediction tools
(e.g., Weibull analysis, FMEA).
Hands‑on experience with environmental chambers, shakers, and data acquisition systems.
