Position Summary
Area Curriculum & Instruction Specialist – Join our award‑winning Special Education team in Southern California to support an enriched learning environment for K‑12 students.
Starting Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per year based on experience PLUS $2,000 annual education stipend.
Responsibilities
Serve as instructional leader for the assigned region, ensuring alignment with California State Frameworks, CDE, and educational law.
Provide support, guidance, and supervision to teachers in assessment, curriculum, instruction, classroom systems, and state standards; deliver training, coaching, and feedback.
Oversee formal and informal academic assessment procedures to monitor student progress and achievement.
Train and support education teams in using student data for instructional decision‑making.
Lead implementation of on‑site intervention instruction, with an emphasis on direct instruction in reading, writing, spelling, and math for students below grade level.
Research and recommend evidence‑based curricula that meet Department of Education requirements.
Provide oversight of lesson plans, transcripts, report cards, grading systems, and progress reports.
Guide campus staff in developing short‑ and long‑term classroom goals and prioritization.
Conduct quality‑assurance checks at the student, staff, classroom, and site levels, recommending improvements.
Assess training needs of instructional staff and design staff‑development plans.
Support IEP processes, including goal review, meeting participation, and transition planning.
Implement classroom systems for behavior tracking and reinforcement.
Maintain effective communication with parents, care providers, and district personnel.
Attend required on‑site and regional meetings; participate in conferences, trainings, and seminars to maintain core competencies.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in education, special education, educational leadership, or a closely related field.
Current or pending CA special education credential (Mild/Mod or Mod/Severe).
Valid CA state driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and instruction.
Knowledge of special education services and compliance, particularly for students with severe learning, emotional/behavioral disorders, autism spectrum, and related disabilities.
Experience working with students on IEPs.
Proven success in implementing education plans for diverse students.
Knowledge of state and national education standards.
Ability to build relationships with students, parents, teachers, and community partners.
Strong prioritization, organization, and deadline management skills.
Advanced oral and written communication, conflict resolution, and problem‑solving abilities.
Experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office, database entry, and basic office equipment.
