We are seeking a visionary Director, Enterprise Data Platform to lead the development and execution of Ford's enterprise data platform strategy. This role is critical in driving engineering excellence, ensuring platform adoption, and delivering scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions. Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: define and drive the roadmap for Ford's Enterprise Data Platform, aligning with business and technology goals. Platform Development & Adoption: oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable data platforms, ensuring broad enterprise adoption. Data Governance & Compliance: implement best-in-class data governance, security, and privacy frameworks to ensure compliance with industry regulations. AI/ML Enablement: lead efforts to integrate AI-driven capabilities such as SQL‑to‑code conversion, LLM‑powered debugging, and self‑service ingestion frameworks. Cloud & Multi‑Cloud Strategy: optimize data platform capabilities across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, and on‑prem environments, ensuring high availability and cost efficiency. Engineering & Operational Excellence: establish best practices for data engineering, DevSecOps, reliability, and platform observability. Talent & Organization Building: attract, develop, and mentor top talent in data engineering and platform development, fostering a high‑performance team culture. Cross‑functional Collaboration: partner with business units, product teams, and other technology leaders to ensure seamless data accessibility and usability across Ford.
Qualifications
15+ years of experience in data engineering, cloud platforms, or enterprise‑scale data management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record of delivering large‑scale data platforms, metadata catalogs, data lakes, data pipelines, and streaming architectures. Deep expertise in GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub), AWS, or Azure and modern data stack technologies. Experience in implementing data governance, lineage, classification, and security policies at an enterprise level. Strong understanding of AI/ML, real‑time analytics, and observability platforms. Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to drive alignment, influence stakeholders, and lead diverse global teams. Excellent communication and executive presence, capable of engaging with senior leadership and business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading data transformations in automotive, manufacturing, or financial services industries. Prior hands‑on experience in Apache Beam, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, DataHub, Looker, and Kubernetes. Background in architecting self‑service data platforms and API‑first data access frameworks.
