Chief Commercial Officer - Distributed Generation Leap29 are working with a leading developer and IPP for the distributed generation solar market. Our client are headquartered in New York City, with projects nationwide and are entering an exciting phase of rapid growth. The role will have the following direct reports - Originators, Origination Support, Marketing, Offtake, M&A

To support this trajectory, we’re are seeking a dynamic Chief Commercial Officer to bring strategic vision, commercial excellence, and leadership to our executive team.

As CCO, you will be the commercial driving force of the company. You will lead all go-to-market strategies, business development initiatives, and commercial operations that position as the industry leader in distributed generation and energy storage.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in the DG solar and BESS sectors, a strong track record of growth leadership, and a passion for delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

Market Strategy & Selection

Lead the market selection process, regularly reviewing and presenting target markets to the executive team for alignment and approval.

Success looks like: Clearly defined market priorities with strong organizational buy‑in and flawless commercial execution.

Origination & Lead Generation

Drive lead generation to secure ideal sites for project development within our target markets.

Success looks like: A strong, predictable flow of high‑quality, cost‑effective leads.

Team Leadership & Performance

Guide and support originators to achieve and exceed their goals, providing hands‑on deal support and clear performance tracking.

Success looks like: A motivated, top‑performing commercial team consistently surpassing targets.

M&A Strategy

Identify and secure accretive M&A opportunities that align with strategic portfolio and market criteria.

Success looks like: Securing high‑value bilateral and off‑market deals at above‑market returns.

Offtake & Revenue Optimization

Oversee offtake strategies for community solar projects to ensure full subscription at strong revenue rates. Identify additional offtake opportunities, including RFPs, that align with our development goals.

Success looks like: Projects fully subscribed on schedule with optimized returns.

Hands‑On Deal Execution

Personally originate and close key organic and inorganic opportunities.

Success looks like: Regular contribution to the pipeline through high‑impact deals.

Executive Leadership

Play a key role on the executive team, helping set and execute company strategy, including engagement with our PE sponsor.

Success looks like: Active, strategic participation in shaping the company’s direction.

Skills & Experience

Significant experience in DG solar, with a proven record of originating and closing successful projects.

Demonstrated success in building and leading high‑performing commercial teams in the DG solar industry.

Exceptional commercial acumen with strong relationship‑building and contract negotiation skills.

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and solve complex problems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and effective at prioritizing in a fast‑paced environment.

Self‑motivated and target‑driven, with a strong sense of accountability and execution.
