Transportation Senior Project Engineer Location:
Atlanta, GA
Your Impact at Lowe Engineers We are seeking a
Transportation Senior Project Engineer
to support our Transportation team in our Atlanta, GA office. This key role will oversee design production and provide senior‑level engineering guidance on a range of roadway, sidewalk, shoulder, and drainage projects. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of GDOT standards, leadership experience, and the ability to mentor junior staff while delivering high‑quality design solutions to public and private clients across Georgia.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as Senior Project Engineer on roadway and transportation projects
Provide technical oversight and guidance on construction documents and designs
Review and support design elements, including roadway geometry, drainage, signing and pavement markings, construction staging, and erosion control
Mentor and train junior engineers and design staff
Coordinate with clients, agencies, and consultants on project scope and requirements
Assist with preparation of cost estimates, reports, and permit documentation
Support project managers with scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control
Contribute to proposal development and client presentations
Ensure compliance with GDOT standards and applicable regulations
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project delivery on time and within budget
What You Bring to Lowe Engineers
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
15+ years of transportation and roadway design experience
Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
Proven experience with GDOT design standards and Plan Development Process
Proficiency in MicroStation V8i/InRoads and OpenRoads Designer
Familiarity with local government and municipal transportation projects
Experience in mentoring and leading technical teams
Strong communication and collaboration skills
AutoCAD experience is a plus
Willingness to work occasional overtime to meet project demands
