Description of Work The position provides pollution prevention technical assistance to businesses, industries, and institutions across the state. The position works with Division management, Sections, and other key DEQ programs to deliver technical project delivery, including clean energy assessments, water efficiency audits, solid waste reduction, pollution prevention, compliance assistance, and other environmental performance improvement recommendations in line and in support of agency program objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide multimedia pollution prevention technical assistance to businesses, industries, and institutions across the state, with a special concentration on energy assessments and climate pollution reduction strategies.
Analyze key programmatic metrics and data to inform strategic planning for Division, development of reports, fact sheets, and other technical resources to be utilized by staff and to assist clients.
Support opportunities for joint efforts to build internal and external technical training across Division units and sections, including ESI program support, Recycling and Materials Management Section support, and other joint projects as determined by DEACS leadership team.
Provide program outreach, development, and coordination in working with stakeholders to advance departmental strategic initiatives through pollution prevention strategies.
Make presentations to a variety of internal and external stakeholders on program strategies, initiatives, and other performance metrics.
Contribute to division planning and initiatives including report and technical resource development and process improvement efforts.
Recruitment Range $61,545.00 – $82,400.00

The Division Of Environmental Assistance And Customer Service The mission of the Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service (DEACS) is to protect and improve North Carolina’s environment and economy through customer-focused assistance, greater understanding of environmental permitting and compliance, wider adoption of sustainable practices, increased recycling and reduced waste disposal and reduced impacts from resource consumption. Minimum Education And Experience Master's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
