Construction Casualty Underwriter – Remote (TN)
Zurich provides a rewarding career in the insurance industry. We are seeking a Construction Casualty Underwriter to work remotely in Tennessee, supporting our Southeast region. This role includes analyzing and underwriting new and renewal casualty business in the U.S. and internationally, with 15‑20% travel.
Key Accountabilities Administer and monitor underwriting rules, rating manual rules, insurance laws, and regulations. Develop, maintain, and collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs. Maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition. Serve as a help point for agents, brokers, and customers to support the organization’s sales culture. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite, balancing sound business opportunity. Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1+ year of experience in the Insurance, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction, or Market Facing area. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, plus knowledge of the insurance industry and legal/regulatory environment. Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations, and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Commercial Construction Casualty underwriting experience and broker relationships in the Southeast region. Strong negotiation, relationship building, and active listening skills. Superior risk assessment and win‑win negotiating skills. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in PC and related software; CPCU and ARM certifications a plus.
Compensation Salaried range: $52,900.00 – $86,600.00, with a short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 10%.
