What You’ll Do The BSA/AML Case Analyst is responsible for conducting and dispositioning mid‑risk and continuation case investigations using a risk‑based approach within Verafin, performing detailed research and documentation to determine whether activity can be mitigated or requires a SAR filing. Determine whether activity can be mitigated or requires a SAR filing, ensuring all findings and documentation are properly saved for record retention and to support potential requests from law enforcement, regulatory exams, or internal audits.

Determine whether to categorize identified activity as “suspicious.” If activity is deemed suspicious, and it presents a high enough BSA/AML risk, provide recommendation to management as to whether the activity should be referred to law enforcement or if maintaining the member’s relationship should be considered.

Coordinate with other business lines such as Retail Banking, Business Banking, Fraud, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, etc. as needed, to disposition a case. Send requests for information (RFIs) to Retail Banking as necessary to help substantiate activity.

Write SARs and Continuing Activity SARs within Verafin for submission to FinCEN.

Identify and elevate any high‑risk cases (i.e., terrorism, human trafficking, negative media, employee transactional concerns, etc.) to the immediate attention of the BSA/AML Compliance Officer or Assistant Manager BSA/AML High Risk Operations.

Review and respond to 314(b) information‑sharing requests in accordance with FinCEN guidelines, including evaluating the legitimacy of the request and ensuring proper documentation of all shared information.

Provide expertise and training to more junior Specialists, Analysts, and/or contractors as needed.

Monitor regulatory changes related to the BSA program and participate in ongoing training to stay current in BSA/AML industry trends and legislation.
