Lead Pastor Job Description
The Youth and Kids Ministry Director will lead a team of volunteers in the discipleship of children at Cistern Church, cradle through youth. The Youth and Kids Director will work closely with the Lead Pastor, volunteer leaders, and parents to plan and implement a ministry plan and monthly rhythms for each age group. The Kids Ministry portion of the job focuses on administrative support and leadership for our Kids Ministry volunteers and team leaders, with responsibility for programming nursery, preschool, and K‑5th‑grade classes. Youth Ministry is the primary focus of this position, working with volunteers and parents to shepherd youth in worship, Bible study, Christian fellowship, and their personal walk with Christ. Qualifications
Exhibits a strong walk with God, through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ Communicates effectively in both speech and writing 1+ years of ministry leadership experience (paid or volunteer) is preferred Self‑starter, learner, flexible, and adaptable Able to make decisions, problem solve, manage conflict, and work well on a team Duties
Build relationships with the youth, serving as a mentor and encourager Plan and implement weekly and seasonal activities for youth Review and implement a Gospel‑centered curriculum for children and youth Communicate regularly and clearly with parents Ensure children’s areas are safe and conducive to children’s developmental capabilities Assist the Lead Pastor and volunteers by performing various administrative tasks Manage special projects and events (special services, outreach events, retreats) Perform other church responsibilities as assigned Sample Work Week
Sunday Mornings:
Assist with setup and tear‑down Oversee children’s ministry areas, including supervising part‑time staff Serve/lead on a ministry team as needed
During the Week:
Plan weekly, monthly, and annual events for youth Study/prepare for weekly youth and children’s gatherings Meet with students and volunteers Attend youth performances, sporting events, and activities
