Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented
Hotel Controller/Bookkeeper
to oversee the financial operations of our property. The ideal candidate will manage all accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain compliance with hotel accounting standards and company policies. This role is critical in supporting hotel management with timely financial insights, budgeting, and cost‑control initiatives.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll and general ledger maintenance.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
Ensure accuracy of financial data and compliance with GAAP and hotel accounting policies.
Monitor cash flow, reconcile bank statements and maintain proper cash controls.
Prepare balance sheets, profit & loss statements and other financial reports for management review.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Provide variance analyses between budgeted and actual results and recommend corrective actions.
Work with department heads to monitor expenses and maintain cost efficiency.
Internal Controls & Audits
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard hotel assets.
Ensure compliance with brand standards, tax regulations and local accounting requirements.
Support external audits and coordinate documentation requests.
Operational Support
Collaborate with the General Manager and department heads to support financial decision‑making.
Manage vendor relationships and maintain accurate records of invoices and payments.
Oversee night audit procedures and ensure accurate daily revenue reporting.
Payroll & HR Support (if applicable)
Process bi‑weekly or monthly payroll and maintain employee records.
Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax filings and benefit deductions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience / Other Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality or hotel industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, hotel accounting systems and internal control procedures.
Proficiency in QuickBooks, M3, Opera PMS, Sage or similar accounting software.
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
High attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
Full‑time, on‑site position at the hotel property.
May occasionally require flexible hours during audits, month‑end closings or budgeting cycles.
Operational knowledge of MEWS, TOAST, Shopify, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite.
Flexible team player willing to contribute to the Corrado, Sorrel River Ranch & JJ’s Mercantile, LLC team goal.
Ability to deliver high‑quality work in a dynamic, fast‑paced atmosphere, thriving under pressure.
Physical Demands
Lift 50+ pounds.
Sit at a desk and type at a computer for extensive periods of time.
Bend, stoop, kneel and reach with hands and arms.
Express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.
