Position Overview The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day general ledger accounting activities and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the company’s financial records. This role plays a key part in the monthly close process, preparation of financial statements, and compliance with GAAP standards. The Senior Corporate Accountant will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and senior finance leadership to support financial reporting and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Month‑End Close
Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.
Lead and perform monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
Review and analyze GL accounts for accuracy and completeness, ensuring transactions are properly classified in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances and oversee elimination entries for consolidated entities.
Prepare and assist in the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Support management in analyzing financial results, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights.
Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory standards.
Assist with year‑end audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors to provide requested schedules and supporting documentation.
Process Improvement & Controls
Participate in the development, documentation, and enhancement of accounting policies and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency and accuracy.
Support system enhancements, automation efforts, and ERP upgrades impacting financial reporting and GL management.
Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and FP&A teams to ensure financial data integrity and alignment across departments.
Provide accounting guidance to other departments as needed to ensure proper treatment of financial transactions.
Assist in ad hoc financial projects, reconciliations, and special analyses as required by leadership.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including general ledger management and financial reporting.
Experience in a multi‑entity or multi‑state corporate environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles.
Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
Public accounting or audit experience is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
High degree of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in financial reporting.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
