NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 19,000 employees. Description Of Work Salary Range: $53,164.00 - $93,038.00 Internal posting open only for current North Carolina State Government employees and eligible RIF Candidates from NC State Government, including current temporary employees.
The Enterprise Accounting department manages financial operations, ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws and GAAP. It oversees the receipt, disbursement, and recording of funds, maintaining accountability through the Controller’s Office in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS). All financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP, GASB, OSC, OSBM guidelines, and N.C. General Statutes. The position performs complex manufacturing accounting, cash management, and financial reporting functions.
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly income statements and annual financial statements.
Spend considerable time with plant managers, enterprise administration, and vendors.
Manage billing and collections of the department’s accounts receivables per State Accounts Receivable Policies and Statute 147-86.
Review monthly cash reports and trial balance for accuracy; prepare accrual entries and assist in monthly close‑out.
Manage ACFR entries and agency financial notes for compilation.
Write procedures and assist in establishing internal controls within the section.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Management Preferences
Experience and skill in preparation of Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR).
Experience working in Accounts Receivable collections.
Minimum Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance or public administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting coursework; and four years of professional accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting/financial statements and reports. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
