Position Purpose
Oversee all aspects of the Human Resources function at the Somerset, KY manufacturing facility.
Essential Functions
Manage industrial relations activities including work rules, safety programs, attendance, and discipline. Establish and promote a participative environment and pro‑active union avoidance program in Somerset. Seek ways to expand communications and associate involvement. Advise management of appropriate resolution of employee relation issues. Responsible for EEO and all other labor/employment law compliance for the facility.
Participate as a member of the plant management team to establish operating goals and implementation plans. Maintain awareness of all business issues to maximize contribution to the success of the plant.
Recruit and/or coordinate recruiting for all hourly and salaried positions. Maintain division policies for selecting quality candidates capable of growth within the division and corporation. Ensure adherence to proper company policies and external regulations. Report and measure monthly recruiting progress; support co‑op / intern program.
Provide orientation to new associates, both hourly and salaried. Implement training and development to support individual and business goals, such as quality, safety, productivity, and customer service.
Administer performance appraisal system and execute organizational development systems in coordination with divisional staff. Ensure appraisals and merit increases are administered timely and fairly, goals and objectives are set for each salaried employee and oversee wage and benefit administration for the workforce.
Prepare HR metrics/reports and recommend procedures to improve as a result of the data in areas such as turnover and reduced absenteeism.
Administer corporate and divisional policies and procedures and meet statutory requirements. Develop and maintain ISO procedures for HR as required. Keep appropriate files and records, including payroll and attendance.
Coordinate the plant’s safety, Workers Comp, and loss control activities.
Facilitate engaging training sessions and presentations to convey clear and relevant content to various employee groups.
Foster a collaborative and positive team culture among HR staff members.
Support and demonstrate open communication, mutual respect, and conflict‑resolution strategies.
Develop and implement succession planning strategies to identify and prepare high‑potential employees for critical business and leadership roles.
Education and Training • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate area required; graduate degree is a plus
Minimum Qualifications
PC application literacy required.
5‑7 years professional experience, 3 or more years managing a complete HR function in a manufacturing environment reporting to the plant manager.
Hands‑on experience in fostering a non‑union and participative workplace.
Significant involvement in recruiting and selecting a quality hourly and salaried workforce program.
Experience in developing and implementing health, safety, and workers compensation programs.
Work experience outside the HR function is a strong positive.
