The position offers an opportunity to work with students from middle school through adulthood, providing college and career access advising, financial aid counseling, and scholarship services.

$43,000 - $52,900, commensurate with experience
Position Summary The College & Career Advisor helps students aspire to, prepare for, and ultimately enroll in and pay for postsecondary education. The role coordinates comprehensive programs and services through classroom workshops, group sessions, individual meetings, parent/guardian meetings, and afterschool programming. The advisor will work with students in grades 6‑7 initially and then continue to support these same students through high school and college.
Essential Functions
Provide group and individual services to students in assigned schools.
Assist students with discerning career and college goals, providing information on educational options, institutional choice, career options, admissions, and financial aid.
Advise students on college entrance exams (ACT, SAT, SAT subject tests) and test preparation resources; assist with registration and fee waivers.
Supply admission and financial aid applications, provide waivers for application fees and tuition/housing deposits.
Guide students through the financial aid process: FAFSA, CSS Profile, review SAR, interpret aid award letters, assist with verification, and complete other paperwork.
Promote scholarship opportunities and encourage research and applications for applicable scholarships and awards.
Recommend qualifying high school seniors for College Now scholarships, collect required documentation, and enter information in the web‑based database.
Attend all advisor trainings and meetings.
Support College Now events and functions when requested or assigned.
Support Advising Programs and Services department meetings and training.
Track all services by accurately entering demographic information, contacts, and notes in the student information database.
Maintain strict confidentiality in student record keeping.
Be knowledgeable of program grant guidelines.

Professional oral and written communication skills.
Autonomous work ability with collaborative focus.
Excellent judgement and support for administrative and financial functions.
Adaptable to changing priorities, schedules due to grant, schedule, or school changes.
Own transportation to multiple locations within Northeast Ohio; able to carry up to 10 pounds daily.
Must‑Have Technical Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Applications (Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint).
Support meeting facilitation and run meetings on virtual tools such as Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and GoToMeeting.
Enter data on advising services, run reports, and monitor services offered to students.
Previous Work Experience Experience working with adolescents and strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Prior teaching or tutoring experience within schools or related organizations is a plus but not required. Minimum one year of college access/financial aid experience or one year teaching adolescents required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required. Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment with a collaborative focus.
Education Requirement Bachelor’s degree required.
