About LiquidPiston LiquidPiston is a technology‑driven engineering company developing advanced rotary engines based on a new thermodynamic cycle. Our team of ~40 engineers and professionals is solving some of the most challenging problems in modern propulsion.
We’re seeking a Network Administrator to manage and enhance our IT infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across our hybrid Windows and Linux environment. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working independently, supporting a high‑performing engineering team, and building resilient systems from the ground up. This position will operate as a one‑person IT shop, responsible for all aspects of IT and network management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain a secure and scalable network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize reliability and uptime
Manage and support Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments, and user workstations
Oversee Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365 administration
Collaborate with leadership to identify, procure, and deploy IT and networking assets
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST 800‑171 and CMMC 2.0
Implement and maintain network segmentation, VPNs, and encryption protocols
Manage data backup, disaster recovery, and endpoint protection systems
Support licensing and connectivity for engineering tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, and MATLAB
Develop automation scripts (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or Ansible) to improve system efficiency
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (MS preferred)
5+ years of experience managing enterprise or small‑company IT/network infrastructure
Strong proficiency in both Linux and Windows Server environments
In‑depth understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and switching
Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, and SSO
Familiarity with NIST 800‑171 / CMMC 2.0 compliance requirements
Proven ability to work independently as a one‑person IT department
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Networking certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent
Experience managing High‑Performance Computing (HPC) or lab network environments
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or DevOps workflows
Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ansible) for automation and system management
Knowledge of MySQL or relational database management
