Base pay range Position Overview As a Cash Applications Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately posting payments, researching and coding deductions, and helping maintain clean customer accounts. You will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments while collaborating with multiple internal teams to resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities
Process electronic and manual payment transactions, including checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit card payments.
Research and resolve payment discrepancies such as double payments, short payments, unapplied cash, or other variances.
Collaborate with billing, customer service, collections, and sales teams to address customer-related issues.
Reconcile cash postings with accounting records.
Identify and share opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in cash applications and collections.
Generate reports to track payment activity and issue resolution as needed.
Support collection management processes when necessary.
Assist with audits and internal projects as required.
Qualifications
Associate degree in finance or accounting preferred but not required.
Prior experience in cash applications, billing, accounts receivable, or collections.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and the order-to-cash cycle, including invoices, debits, credits, and internal controls.
Strong customer service skills, both written and verbal, to manage disputes and inquiries with internal and external customers.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong math skills.
Proficient with ERPs, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams), and customer portals.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Positive, proactive attitude with strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
