Income Tax Manager (Finance and Records Dept)

Description
Finance employees receive account for monitor and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to Gods commandments) for the Churchs religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders.
Tax employees help Church organizations and ecclesiastical leaders remain compliant with current tax laws and required tax reporting which helps safeguard sacred funds for the Churchs religious mission that is under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders.
This manager position works with senior leaders in the Churchs Tax Division to develop and implement the organizations tax strategy and helps manage aspects of the organizations tax reporting function.
Responsibilities This role will combine an understanding of Church organization culture and interests with expert industry-level technical expertise. This role reviews and submits tax related documents or filings which may include federal state or local tax returns declarations reconciliations or extensions. Prepares tax planning reports and estimates the organizations tax obligations. Advises senior management on strategies for minimizing the organizations tax liabilities. Stays abreast of tax code changes and ensures ongoing compliance. Leads the work of a team of income tax accounts and / or applicable support staff. Has authority to make personnel decisions related to hiring performance or disciplinary actions. Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on strategic planning and procedural change. Typically reports to a Senior Income Tax manager or other senior manager.
Qualifications
Requires a bachelors degree in accounting finance economics business management or related field.
7 years of applicable work experience.
Possesses expert working knowledge of income tax issues.
Has a current CPA.
Possesses ability to lead and develop employees and build effective teams and foster teamwork.
Ability to drive strategic direction.
Demonstrates problem-solving skills analytical thinking skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Is detail oriented.
Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
Has solid computer word processing and database management skills.
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors / equipment.
Preferred
Masters degree in applicable field.
