Position Summary:
Instructor in Photography (Part‑Time, Non‑Contact/Temporary) at Ventura College for the Spring 2026 semester. Employment may be up to 67% of a full‑time assignment per California Community Colleges Board of Governors regulations.
Description The instructor provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to facilitate academic and vocational objectives. Responsibilities include developing curriculum, delivering instruction, assessing student performance, and contributing to program development. The instructor works under the general direction of a dean and coordinates with faculty and staff to meet institutional goals.
What You’ll Do
Deliver instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses in photography.
Assess and develop students’ cognitive and communication skills through assignments, projects, and examinations.
Advise students on programs of study, resources, and support services.
Observe and evaluate student performance, providing timely feedback.
Plan and organize instruction aligned with department and district learning outcomes.
Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and course curriculum.
Select and maintain instructional materials, including textbooks, software, and tools.
Revise and update course content and materials to reflect new theory and industry developments.
Collaborate with discipline faculty on curriculum development and student learning outcomes.
Serve on committees, meetings, and related faculty activities as requested.
Provide work direction to others, as applicable.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Representative Duties Students receive instruction using a blend of methods and technology, and receive timely feedback. The instructor maintains accurate records and collaborates with faculty in curriculum and program development. Duties include committee participation, articulation activities, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in photography, fine arts, or art, OR Bachelor’s in the same field and Master’s in art history or humanities, OR possession of a California Community College Credential.
Evidence of photo‑art professional experience and a strong portfolio is required.
Recognized equivalency may apply; candidates may submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency if degree titles do not match exactly.
