Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Science and Counseling
Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Science and Counseling, primarily charged with developing and teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position in the Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science Department within the College of Education and Health, with possible summer contracts.
The Rehabilitation Science and Counseling programs are located within the Department of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science, College of Education and Health. Rehabilitation Science students complete their Bachelor of Science degree with at least one of four minors: Addictions, Child Welfare and Social Service, Recreation Services, or Disability Services. Counseling students, to complete their Master of Science degree, are required to complete one of two tracks: Clinical Mental Health or Rehabilitation Counseling. The successful candidate will work primarily in cooperation with the Undergraduate Program Director, Graduate Program Director, and other Rehabilitation Science and Counseling program faculty to develop and employ innovative course conceptualization and delivery, engage in meaningful advising and mentorship relationships with students, and maintain an active service and scholarship agenda.
Responsibilities
Developing and teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, with an anticipated 4 course load each Fall and Spring semester.
Effectively advising and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Engaging students in high impact learning practices.
Developing a sustainable scholarship program, including seeking external funds.
Providing meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Engaging in assessment and continuous improvement of courses.
Participating in all trainings, meetings, and Professional Development.
Performing other duties assigned by the Department Head.
Qualifications
Ph.D. (or ABD with expected completion date by August 1, 2026) in Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Mental Health, or Counseling related field (required).
Licensed Associate/Professional Counselor (LAC/LPC) or license eligible in the state of Arkansas (preferred).
Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or certification eligible (preferred).
Experience advising students in a university setting (preferred).
