WORK TYPE : The Partnership team works in a hybrid capacity. This position is expected to be in schools 80% of the time, with occasional visits to the Partnership office in Downtown LA. School sites are based in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts. This is a full-time, year‑round position.

It serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts. The Partnership works within the LA Unified School District context, honoring all collective bargaining agreements for its teachers and staff.

About the Position The Partnership seeks a motivated, detail‑oriented, experienced Coordinator of Curriculum Systems Advising to join the K‑12 Mathematics team. The role supports systems change by scaling professional learning and curriculum implementation across up to 10 schools. The coordinator will build durable systems for planning, instruction, and data analysis, facilitate professional learning, and support leadership development.

Position Responsibilities

Coach teacher leaders and distributed leadership across up to 10 schools.

Partner with LAUSD staff and the Director to build capacity of school leadership teams in professional learning systems.

Help school leadership teams implement high-quality mathematics curriculum and use data to adjust instruction.

Build a strong math department culture by providing one‑on‑one capacity‑building support to teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and other instructional leaders.

Model curriculum‑first professional learning by planning and facilitating professional development at school sites.

Leverage math content standards, CA Math Framework, and Illustrative Mathematics to design effective learning opportunities for instructional leaders.

Collaborate with the Curriculum Systems Advising and Math teams on professional development pathways for teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and administrators.

Support facilitation of group learning experiences across the district.

Lead the development and use of math curricular materials for a grade span, including curriculum maps and assessment tools.

Maintain positive relationships with school and district leadership.

Conduct classroom observations and collect teacher practice data to support department‑wide growth.

Assist site leaders in observing and supporting effective instruction.

Help develop and execute priority initiatives for math instruction with the Director and Vice President of School Transformation.

Maintain records related to school support, observation data, ILT meetings, coaching, professional development, and other requests.

Build credibility and relationships with senior LAUSD regional staff and school leadership teams.

Ensure delivery of professional learning services for the region.

Ensure schools within the portfolio meet improvement milestones.

Develop skills to lead work at school sites independently.

Requirements & Qualifications

At least 5 years of full‑time teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level.

At least 2 years of leadership experience in a school context; administrator experience is strongly preferred.

Deep knowledge of and experience with Common Core Standards for Mathematics, the California Math Framework, and/or Illustrative Mathematics.

Experience designing, organizing, and facilitating professional learning for adult learners.

Experience leading inquiry cycles that produce sustained improvement in teaching and learning.

Experience with Illustrative Mathematics curriculum.

Record of academic success working with students in historically underserved schools.

Experience working across multiple schools is a plus.

Strong project management skills.

Excellent organization and coordination skills with high attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex ideas accessibly.

Collaborative skills across diverse work styles and skill sets.

Ability to travel between school sites and the Partnership Home Office.

Compensation & Benefits The starting salary range for external and internal candidates is $114,179. The Partnership’s compensation policy is based on a robust, transparent model. Salaries are set by a formula and are not negotiated.
