Altium Designer Hardware Engineer Join Actalent as an Altium Designer Hardware Engineer to design and route NXP i.MX-based System‑on‑Modules (SOMs) and Single‑Board Computers (SBCs), incorporating complex high‑speed interfaces and ensuring production‑ready IoT and wireless embedded solutions.

Responsibilities

Complete lifecycle PCB schematic capture and layout in Altium Designer.

Route high‑speed digital signals and memory interfaces, including DDR, eMMC, HDMI, USB, Ethernet, and LVDS.

Design and validate power distribution networks, ensuring signal integrity.

Collaborate with software, mechanical, and test teams for board bring‑up and verification.

Generate and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs), design documentation, and PCB fabrication packages.

Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testing (DFT) reviews; participate in design reviews.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic and routing.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Proven experience designing embedded SOM/SBC hardware, particularly with NXP i.MX.

Strong understanding of high‑speed design, impedance control, EMC, and power regulation.

Familiarity with communication buses such as USB, Ethernet, SPI, I²C, LVDS, and SDIO.

Ability to work onsite in Cedarburg, WI or in CA.

Excellent documentation and collaboration skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with IoT or wireless product design.

Hands‑on experience with board bring‑up and debugging.

Experience with compliance and validation testing.

Work Environment The role requires close collaboration with firmware and mechanical teams to deliver reliable hardware solutions. The preferred location is onsite in Cedarburg, WI, with the possibility to work in CA. The environment is collaborative, focusing on cutting‑edge technology in IoT and wireless applications.

Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Pay & Benefits Pay range: $60.00 – $80.00 per hour.
